How do I set up Dynamic DNS?

To access the Dynamic DNS feature, you need to log into the wireless router.

Please follow these steps:

  1. Open Internet Explorer
  2. In the address bar type the following address:

    http://192.168.1.254/

    or

    http://speedtouch.lan

  3. From the list on the left hand side, click on 'Toolbox'.
  4. Click on the option 'Dynamic DNS'.

Dynamic DNS is a service, supported by the wireless router and allows you to register a domain name which points to your dynamic Virgin.net Broadband IP address.

To make use of this facility, you must first register a domain name with a Dynamic DNS service.

Once the SpeedTouch has been configured with the relevant information, it will automatically update the Dynamic DNS service with its current IP address whenever it changes, allowing Virgin.net customers to make use of personal domain names.

Virgin.net does not provide a Dynamic DNS service and is unable to provide technical support. However, you should be able to set this service up quite easily.

Clicking on 'Configure' at the top of the Overview page, will take you to the Configuration page.

The Configure page allows you to assign a Dynamic DNS host name to a broadband connection:

  1. Create an account at the Dynamic DNS service of your choice, for example:

    www.dyndns.org

    www.no-ip.com

    www.dtdns.com

  2. On the Dynamic DNS page, click Configure.
  3. Select Enabled.
  4. If needed, click the broadband connection to which you want to assign the Dynamic DNS hostname in the Interface list.
  5. Type the Username and Password of your Dynamic DNS service account in the corresponding fields.
  6. In the Service list, click your Dynamic DNS service.
  7. In the Host box, type the host name you want to assign to this interface (for example myspeedtouch.dyndns.org).
  8. Click Apply.
