Is your modem plugged in and switched on?

USB broadband modems and routers
Modem:
If you have a USB broadband modem such as the SpeedTouch 330, make sure that your telephone line and the modem data cable are plugged into the broadband filter, and it is plugged into your telephone socket on your wall. Make sure the data cable is plugged into the modem, and that you have installed the modem drivers. Check that the USB cable is plugged into the computer. Two lights should appear on the front of the modem if it is connected correctly.
Wireless router:
If you are using the Virgin Broadband Wireless Kit, check that it is connected correctly. If you have the black SpeedTouch router, check that the PWR and DSL lights are not flashing, or if you have the white Netgear router, check that the Power and Internet lights are not flashing. If they are, please refer to our FAQs on installing our Wireless Kit).
If you’re still unable to connect, check that the cables and filters are plugged in correctly, that you have a filter plugged into every telephone wall socket that has devices plugged into it (i.e. phones, fax machines and your Wireless Kit) and that there is a dial tone on the phone line. Also, if you have more than one telephone number, please make sure that you’re using the correct phone line for the number that you provided during registration.
