How do I set up my account?


This section will show you how to set up your Virgin Media email account.
  • First you will need to open 'Netscape Navigator' as you would normally either from your desktop screen or your 'Start' menu.
  • Open Netscape Communicator and click on the 'Edit' menu at the top.
  • Choose 'Preferences' from the menu:
  • This will open the full preferences window:
  • Click on the + sign next to the words 'Mail & Newsgroups'.
  • Click on 'Identity' to highlight it. 
  • Click in the white box below 'Your name:' and type your name.
  • Click in the white box below 'Email address:' and type your email address.
  • Then click on 'Mail Servers:'
  • Click on the 'Edit' button on the right hand side.
  • This will open the following window:
  • You will now need to fill in your mail account details.
  • In the 'Server Name' box type  pop.virgin.net
  • In the 'Server type' box choose 'POP3 Server' from the list.
  • In the 'User Name' box type your Virgin Media username.
  • We recommend that you click in the box for 'Remember password'
  • This will mean that you do not have to type in your password each time you check for new mail.
  • Click on the 'OK' button.
  • This will take you back to the 'Preferences' window.
  • Click in the 'Outgoing mail (SMTP) server' box and type smtp.virgin.net
  • You can leave the 'Outgoing mail server user name' box blank.
  • Choose 'Never' for 'Use Secure Socket Layer (SSL) or TLS for outgoing messages'.
  • Click on the 'OK' button to save your new email account details.

Your email account is now correctly set up and you will able to send and receive email as normal.
