How do I view an attachment I have received?
This section will show you how to view an attachment in an email you have received in Outlook Express 6.
An attachment is indicated by a paper clip to the left of the email, as shown below:
When you highlight the email, you will see a larger paperclip on the right-hand side in the header information pane:
Clicking on this will show the attached documents and their sizes.
Now click on the attachment:
Normally you will be presented with the box below. However some attachments will open directly.
Choosing 'Save it to disk' will allow you to save the attachment.
Selecting 'Open it' will start the application associated with this document and open the file.
We recommend that you save the file to disk.
If you have anti-virus software installed this will allow you to scan your document before opening it:
You now need to select where to save your document.
Click on the little black arrow to the right of the 'Save in' box.
Once you are happy with the location and 'File name' click on the 'Save' button:
Now minimize Outlook Express by clicking the Underscore button in the top right-hand corner:
You will now see your desktop, and the file you have just saved.
To open it simply double click it:
Your attachment will now be displayed as an icon wherever you saved it.
