How do I create a new contact?

This section will show you how to add a new contact into your address book in Outlook Express 6.
  • You will need to begin from your computers desktop, the first screen you usually see when your computer has fully started.
  • Open Outlook Express using your desktop shortcut, or from the start menu.
  • You will see at the bottom, on the left hand side, a Contacts list.
  • If you are unable to see your Contacts pane, click on 'Layout...' in the View menu. You will see the Window Layout Properties box:
  • Make sure the box next to Contacts has a tick in it. Click OK.
  • Click on the word 'Contacts'.
    • Then click on 'New Contact':
    • You will then see the window below:
    • You will now need to fill in the information.
    • We recommend you enter a minimum of the first name, last name and the email address:
    • Once you have completed these fields click on the 'Add' button on the right hand side.
    • The email address is moved to the white box below, and is now in bold.
    • Click on the 'OK' button to save this contact:
    • Your new contact will now show in your 'Contacts' list:
    • To send an email to your contact, click twice with the left hand mouse button on the name of the contact:
    • The new email window will already have the email address in the box.
    • Type your message as normal, and click on the 'Send' button.
You have now added a contact to your address book.
