How do I create a new identity?
This section will show you how to create a new identity in Outlook Express.
You will need to begin from your computer's desktop. This is the first screen you usually see when your computer has fully started.
Now click on the 'File' menu at the top of the screen and then click on 'Switch Identity':
You will then see the following warning:
Click on the 'Switch' button.
Outlook Express will close and you will see the following window:
Click on the 'New' button.
You will then see the following window:
Type in a name for the new identity and click the 'OK' button.
This will start the Outlook Express setup assistant:
Choose the second option, 'I already have an account', and click on the '>' arrow at the bottom to continue.
You now need to set up an email address for the new identity to use:
Type in the name you wish to appear in the 'From' field of any outgoing emails, your full name would be suitable.
Then click on the '>' arrow to continue:
Choose the 'I already have an email address' option and type in your Virgin Media email address.
Then click on the '>' arrow to continue:
Ensure the 'Incoming Server' is set to POP. If not, click the up/down arrow and select POP.
Type into the 'Incoming Mail Server' box, pop.virgin.net and the 'Outgoing Mail Server' box, smtp.virgin.net.
Then click on the '>' arrow to continue:
Now you need to type in your Virgin Media username and password. Note that both are case sensitive.
Then click on the '>' arrow to continue:
Type into the 'Account Name' box a name to identify the email account.
Make sure that there is a tick in the box for 'Include this account in my "Send and Receive All" schedule'.
Click on the 'Finish' button to complete the process.
You now have a new identity in Outlook Express.
Outlook Express is now correctly configured to use your additional Virgin Media email account.
