How do I create a new identity?


This section will show you how to create a new identity in Outlook Express.
  • You will need to begin from your computer's desktop. This is the first screen you usually see when your computer has fully started.
  • Now click on the 'File' menu at the top of the screen and then click on 'Switch Identity':
  • You will then see the following warning:
  • Click on the 'Switch' button.
  • Outlook Express will close and you will see the following window:
  • Click on the 'New' button.
  • You will then see the following window:
  • Type in a name for the new identity and click the 'OK' button.
  • This will start the Outlook Express setup assistant:
  • Choose the second option, 'I already have an account', and click on the '>' arrow at the bottom to continue.
  • You now need to set up an email address for the new identity to use:
  • Type in the name you wish to appear in the 'From' field of any outgoing emails, your full name would be suitable.
  • Then click on the '>' arrow to continue:
  • Choose the 'I already have an email address' option and type in your Virgin Media email address.
  • Then click on the '>' arrow to continue:
  • Ensure the 'Incoming Server' is set to POP. If not, click the up/down arrow and select POP.
  • Type into the 'Incoming Mail Server' box, pop.virgin.net and the 'Outgoing Mail Server' box, smtp.virgin.net.
  • Then click on the '>' arrow to continue:
  • Now you need to type in your Virgin Media username and password. Note that both are case sensitive.
  • Then click on the '>' arrow to continue:
  • Type into the 'Account Name' box a name to identify the email account.
  • Make sure that there is a tick in the box for 'Include this account in my "Send and Receive All" schedule'.
  • Click on the 'Finish' button to complete the process.
  • You now have a new identity in Outlook Express.
Outlook Express is now correctly configured to use your additional Virgin Media email account.
