Is Windows Vista supported by Virgin Media?

Yes, we now offer technical support for Windows Vista.

Should I upgrade to Windows Vista?

Windows Vista is more user friendly than Windows XP, making it easier for everyone to use the system.

It also offers increased security features for safer browsing and Internet usage. If you are looking to upgrade your computer from an earlier version of Windows then we would recommend that you choose Windows Vista as it is the newest version available.

Will my Virgin Media equipment work with Windows Vista?

At the moment, we only provide technical support for the following products:


Speedtouch 330 Modem
The modem will work with Windows Vista using the installation CD supplied with the modem, although you may encounter some problems when re-installing the modem if you have un-installed the Speedtouch software. Also, you may need to enter your Virgin password each time you connect. Windows Vista drivers will soon be available to resolve any current issues.

There are two versions of the driver.

Driver Version 3.01 – This is the driver currently supplied with the modem.

Driver Version 4.01 – This is the official driver to be used on any Windows Vista computer. This can be requested from www.speedtouchonline.com/cd or if you prefer you can download it.

Speedtouch 780WL Wireless Router
This Wireless router works correctly with Windows Vista using the current CD supplied.

Speedtouch 121G Wireless USB adapter
You will not be able to install the Speedtouch USB adaptor on Windows Vista, using the current CD. A new installation CD will be available very soon.

Netgear DG834GSP Wireless Router
You will be able to use the installation CD supplied with the Wireless Router for Windows Vista.

Netgear WG111 Wireless USB adapter
You will be able to use the installation CD supplied with the Wireless adapter for Windows Vista.

Speedtouch 110G Wireless PC Card adapter
You will not be able to install the Speedtouch PC Card adaptor on Windows Vista, using the current CD. The manufacturer is currently investigating interoperability with Windows Vista.

System Requirements for Vista


Windows Vista is more powerful than Windows XP. This means the specifications of your computer will need to be higher for it to perform correctly.

Here are the recommended requirements for running Windows Vista:

HDD Type Normal Normal, but hybrid flash memory/hard disk drive recommended
